Deer Lodge Montana 59722 is the home of
somewhere over 2,000 people in 2006 and is
the County seat of Powell County. The
Montana State Representative for the Deer
Lodge area is Cynthia Hiner, a Democrat,
and the Director of Nursing at the Montana
State Prison. Her mother, Terry
McGillis has been the
Justice of
Peace Court Deer Lodge Municipality for many
years and was just reelected in 2006.
Now for some
history of Deer Lodge - native
Americans (Indians)
consisted of Shoshone also
known as Bannock. This tribe ranged form the
Deer Lodge valley south into Idaho and east
into Wyoming. The Blackfoot tribe also used
this valley as did the Nez Perce. The early
white folk that came to the site were
attracted by the fresh clean water of
Cottonwood Creek. |
